Foodborne Illness & Complaints

Common symptoms of food borne illness include vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea usually within 72 hours of food consumption. Food borne illness may be caused by bacterial, viral, and sometimes parasitic contamination of the food.

If you believe that you have a food borne illness, please report your illness to Northeast Tri County Health District by calling: 509-684-2262, Option #1.

It is possible to get food borne illness from home, too!

  • Use a food thermometer to ensure proper cooking temperatures.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator as soon as possible to prevent the growth of pathogens.
  • Wash hand thoroughly with soap and water often.
  • Do not prepare food to serve to others when sick.
