On-Site Sewage Treatment and Disposal Program

The goal of the on-site wastewater program is to ensure that the public is not exposed to disease causing organisms, nuisances, or other pollution caused by on-site sewage collection and disposal. Environmental Health staff is charged with the responsibility for completing the following activities:

  • Ensure the proper siting and installation of on-site sewage systems serving structures generating less than 3, 500 gallons per day
  • Provide information to the public about proper operation and maintenance of on-site sewage systems
  • Respond to complaints and correct failing on-site sewage systems
  • Provide technical assistance to homeowners
  • Certify installers and pumpers
  • Provide educational opportunities for on-site sewage system professionals, including installers, designers, and engineer
