Hazardous Site Assessment Program

Activities of the site hazard assessment program are outlined in a grant agreement with Washington State Department of Ecology which provides 100% funding for this program. Staff conducts assessments on sites which may be adversely affecting the environment and public health by release of contaminates. Examples of sites include mine processing areas, underground storage tanks, and areas where spills have occurred. Activities in this program include:

  • Field screening, sampling and other data collection procedures
  • Evaluation of information collected and assessment of environmental and human health risk
  • Site ranking to help establish priorities for remedial action
